WDL Statement: Murder of George Floyd

The Women's Democratic League of Frederick County (WDL) has proudly worked for equality for all since our establishment in 1923. While we have always advocated for black lives as part of that effort, we are compelled to declare that Black Lives Matter.

Black men and women are being murdered far too often or held under questionable circumstances by the hands of individuals meant to serve and protect. We denounce the four officers' actions in the murder of George Floyd on May 25, 2020. We also condemn the actions that led to the deaths of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and the many before them in various states across the country.

Furthermore, it is an additional travesty when there continues to be a lack of empathy, justice, and equal opportunity.

We stand against racism in all forms and encourage all to peacefully stand up for racial equality
